The project
A LEED Silver corporate facility for a Winston-Salem institution — proof that a conservative bank building and a serious sustainability brief are not opposites.
Piedmont Federal asked for a headquarters that would feel permanent without feeling extravagant. The answer was a compact, well-insulated block with deep window reveals, a stone base and a brick and glass body that will still look considered in thirty years.
The project received LEED Silver certification, reflecting a commitment to site selection, low energy consumption, low water use, a low-VOC environment, low-maintenance materials and long life-cycle thinking.
